MERCYKILL "Throw The Switch" Self-released 2006Review by: Michael Griffey II I saw news of this release on Indymetal.com last month and from all accounts it was going to shred. The reports did not lie. This album absolutely rips, tears AND shreds. Think of an excellent meld of Morbid Angel, the progressive strains of Chuck Schuldiner and some killer solo work that resembles those from King Diamond's "Them"...and you'll have an idea of what MercyKill sounds like. Even then, you will not be prepared for the utter POWER that emanates from this white-hot disc that burned my fingers as well as my mind. The package that comes in the mail is slick, with clearwrap and glossy insert...the only VERY slight complaint I had was that the sound doesn't quite match the quality of the packaging, but who cares...they kick mucho ass in the music department. This release left me waiting for more. Look for great things from these guys in the future. With the recent rise of Demiricous, and what I see as a soon to be meteoric rise for MercyKill, it seems that Indianapolis is finally coming into it's own once again with more and more local bands turning up their performance and musical quality to garner attention to our media-slack state. Give these guys as much support as you can at www.mercykill.org At a measly $10 for a t-shirt AND a disc, you can't go wrong.
