I got the chance to check this out before the official release and I must say that this is one of the better underground compilations I have seen in a long time. I would even go as far as to say that it has MORE than most major-label promo discs as far as raw material goes.
Designed for computer users, when you first pop the disc in a multimedia browser opens that allows you to browse through the whole disc and gives information about the featured bands including embedded links to their official sites. It's reasonably easy to navigate around in and if you get lost, as long as you know how to use internet explorer's "back" button, you can go back to anywhere on the disc, but you don't need an internet connection to enjoy it.
The videos included on this disc are from Mister Evil, Maltese Cross, Soldiers of Scrape and Possession.
The audio portion includes an array of tracks from Positiv Hate, Scapegoat, Parasitic Womb, Pretty Mary Dies, and Infernus, representing some excellent metal. Each band gets two tracks...two chances to make you interested in their music.
Positiv Hate is pure swedish black metal...both tracks coming from their 2003 release, Redemption.
ScapeGoat then represents the hardcore/speed genre...from their 2006 release, ZERO.
Then we're back to darkness with Parasitic Womb...old-school black metal dripping with annoyance features...their first track starts out slow, revealing goth tendencies...then you're assaulted by what I can only describe as pure insanity. It's kinda cool.
Next up is Pretty Mary Dies...it's hard to describe...just listen to all the influences...
Rounding out the lineup is Infernus, kickass stoner metal from Asia...
Trashed Tapes is 99% non-profit and has a decent catalog included in the disc for your trading pleasure as well as mp3 versions of all the stuff you find on the disc.
