How do you believe we were created? Do you subscribe to the Big Bang theory? Do you think that a fish crawled out of the primordial muck? Or do you believe that we were created in the image of a supreme being?
Somehow, we are all right...yet idiotically wrong. If you ask two Christians to tell you whether the Bible is to be taken literally or as a series of morality plays, you'll never get the same answer.
Imagine a super-intelligent race of beings. Maybe they had something several billion years before that was necessarily bred out of their bloodlines. Maybe they were just bored. Whatever the reason, they took to the skies, and using their spectacular skills in genetic engineering...created Adam and Eve.
In religious texts, you'll see references to "nephilim", or the offspring of angels and man. Think about it...this supreme race is checking out the earth...and sees cave-women. That's actually a pretty general term. There's a wondrous leap from neanderthal man to the actual predecessors to modern man. Scientists have been unable (or unwilling) to speculate on why there is such a leap in evolution....the obvious conclusion is that something was added to the line to make it more adaptable to what the final product would be: you and me. Angels slept with neanderthals, and created the nephilim. "God" decided this was bad...and destroyed most of the race....but others disagreed.
Adam and Eve were the genetic perfections created in the image of their makers. So is it such a leap to say that our "makers" were a purer form of Human? That through the millenia, they have been allowing us to mix bloodlines, and change ourselves and educate ourselves until we become closer to what we originally were? Do you think that maybe they bred back into our souls that which they lost? Morality? Compassion? Sex?
Discuss.
