hehehe...The Messiah has announced that he is now FOR drilling...but that he wants to pay fo rit with a windfall tax that anyone with a grade school education knows will only mean higher gas prices. He is willing to put 70 million barrels of oil from the S.O.R. into the market thinking that this will lower the price, but doesn't believe that 13 TRILLION barrels from a single oil field (Bakken Oil Fields) will have any more impact than checking the air in your tires.

LANSING, Mich. - Barack Obama put forward a broad energy plan Monday designed to end U.S. reliance on imported oil within 10 years and shore up his standing amid a tightening White House race and high-anxiety over gas prices.

Obama's new proposal, though, includes two significant reversals of positions he has taken in the past: He had steadfastly fought the idea of limited new offshore drilling and was against tapping the nation's emergency oil stockpile to relieve pump prices that have stubbornly hovered around $4 a gallon.
Not only did Obama push for drawing from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, he also reiterated his changing position on offshore drilling — first revealed last Friday — suggesting that he could live with it if done in an environmentally sound way and as part of a bipartisan energy compromise.
Well, then I expect Obama to call for the Congressmen and Senators to get their butts back to work and do the business of the people. There is a Republican bill that was blocked by Nazi Pelosi that allows drilling on our own lands AND allows for exploration into alternative energy sources. Blue Dog Democrats have been on board with this bill and if allowed to vote on it, it would be passed in a "bipartisan" fashion. Republicans, including Mike Pence of Indiana have stayed on The Hill and are showing that while Pelosi and Reid are busy with their lavish vacations paid for by you and me, we're still paying almost $4 a gallon. Truckers and touring musicians are paying closer to $5/gallon.
These politicians are the same ones who complained 12 years ago that it would take "10 years" to get more oil. We wouldn't be in this situation if they had allowed drilling then. We would be completely free from the politics of foreign markets. It takes approximately 45 days to build an oil rig. Our unemployment rate is 5.7%...nearly the same as during the Clinton years...it would be much less if drilling was allowed on our own land because of the tons of good paying jobs that would be created.
The price for a barrel of oil was $146 before Bush announced that he was lifting the Executive Order banning offshore drilling. Three days after the announcement, it was down to $126. Today, it was down to $121. Imagine how much it would plummet if we announced that we were going to start supplying ourselves?

Crude oil for September delivery fell $3.69, or 3 percent, to settle at $121.41 a barrel at 2:49 p.m. on the New York Mercantile Exchange, the lowest close since May 5. New York oil futures have slipped more than $25 a barrel, or 18 percent, from the record $147.27 on July 11 amid lower U.S. fuel demand.
