In all seriousness...I would like to tell everyone that they should buy a Sirius radio and have it put in your car, truck or heavy-duty vehicle. It's not that expensive. I bought mine for $100 at a truck stop near Nashville. Listen to the story of how I discovered Sirius Radio:
I originally bought an XM setup last spring (2005). The reason I chose it was because it supposedly had a "metal" station and it was cheaper than Sirius radio at the time. The radio was only $100 and the service was $12.99 a month.
After listening for nearly a month, I just wasn't satisfied with their programming. The 80's station sucked, the "metal" station had been removed in favor of a nu-metal/alternative station and I just wasn't happy with it. I happened to be back in Nashville, and was back in the TA, looking at the radios and noticed that the Sirius radios had dropped in price to $100...after a little bit of investigation, I realized that they also had a "metal" station listed...and seemed to be a little more categorically correct, instead of meshing different styles into one station.
The price of the service was the same...$12.99 a month. I basically talked them into trading my XM radio for the Sirius receiver. Once I hooked it up and started listening, the difference was CLEAR. For one thing, the sound of the music was better. It was like playing a cassette vs. playing a CD. The next thing I noticed was that the programming was BETTER. They played 80's music that I actually grew up with...not B-sides. They have a station for METAL: Hard Attack. They also have a separate station for stuff that is more alternative...Octane. They have over 100 channels of really great programming...tons of channels with separate flavors of Blues, Jazz, Country, Metal/Rock, you name it...
So, for me, it was worth the $12.99 a month. Then, Howard Stern came to Sirius. It just made my choice even better. I had been enjoying the uncensored comedy on Rawdog, but now could listen to something more...it's all I listen to anymore. Once you get away from listening to shitty commercials on the radio all the time, it's really hard to go back. I've had to listen to regular FM in my girlfriend's car...and it's tough when the commercials start. I just wanna scream, "SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PLAY SOME MUSIC!"...
My only complaint is that Sirius won't give me permission to have their banners on my site because apparently I don't fit a certain "image" that they want. But, don't let that stop you from getting the best music, news and sports money can buy...and that doesn't even count the programming that Howard Stern now has. Next year, purportedly...NASCAR will be ending their contract with XM and will be coming to Sirius...
So, get out there and buy a receiver...it's not as big a hassle as some are making it out to be. It took me 5 minutes to hook everything up...then 5 more minutes to get service. Fuck, it took me longer to read the manual than it did to get service.
